Sugar gliders at early stage of uality?

Hi, I have a male and female sugar gliders and they both are 5 months old. Now I have searched and they arent suppose to mate until like 8 or to a year. My boyfriend said he thought he saw them mating. I didn't catch it on time so I wouldn't know for sure. But if they are, is it possible? And should I be worried?
