Why does everyone hate me?

recently there were positions for prefect roles in my school, to submit you had to put your name forward and the cl and teachers would vote on it. i'm quite a shy person, but put my name forward anyway as i really really wanted a prefect role. i pretty much guessed that i would receive next to no student votes, but i was hoping the teacher votes would help me reach at least the shortlist as i'm a good student and try my best in cl. today i found out that i didn't make the shortlist at all; making me think that even my teachers at school hate me. it probably seems silly, but i'm so disappointed and humiliated for putting my name up in the first place.
